The area located in the municipality in the Milan hinterland, which has been idle for years after the divestment of the famous postal sales brand, will finally be redeveloped and put to new productive uses thanks to the acquisition by AKNO Group.

AKNO Group is the protagonist of a new real estate initiative that will bring back into operation the former Postalmarket area in San Bovio, a hamlet of Peschiera Borromeo (MI). The AKNO Group has acquired the 80,000 m² site of the the former Italian mail-order giant’s warehouses, which employed over 2,000 people in San Bovio in the 1980s.

For a long time, local citizens and institutions wondered about the fate of the area, which was once one of the richest and most innovative industrial district in Italy. Inactive since 2007, the Peschiera-based Postalmarket, which officially went bankrupt in 2015, had long been disused. Now, at last, thanks to AKNO Group’s investment those spaces will be lived in again and will be used for production and related activities.

AKNO Group has been active in the real estate and construction market for over 40 years and has brought a new concept of industrial areas to Italy. Through its AKNO Business Park division, it has always stood out for the creation of modern, innovative and aesthetically pleasing poles. The Business Parks realized by AKNO Business Parks, a division of the group, are designed, built and delivered on a turnkey basis – with leases – to global and local customers with different profiles and operational needs. They are exclusive poles, characterised by high-design architectural structures and lively, modern infrastructures. They house distribution centres, warehouses and storage facilities, commercial premises, logistics areas, hotels and green areas within a single complex. They are built according to the latest energy efficiency standards, with particular attention to sustainability and the environmental impact of the construction work. And they are designed to be cosy, as well as functional and usable.

The AKNO Group’s industrial poles and business parks are always located in strategic areas considering the main communication routes, especially motorways, to facilitate the exchange of goods and the relationship between companies and the territory. The location of the former Postalmarket is also particularly strategic: located on the eastern outskirts of Milan, close to Linate and its airport, it can be easily reached from the city’s main roads.

With the acquisition of the former Postalmarket in Peschiera Borromeo, the AKNO Group is continuing its expansion by adding a new project to the many underway in northern Italy.
